Pinay bows out of Norway’s ‘Idol,’ thanks fans

A Filipina was eliminated during the semifinal round of "Idol," or "Idol: Jakten på en superstjerne," a popular televised singing competition in Norway.

Jessa Vestil Gunnarsen, who wowed audiences with a rendition of Beyonce's "Halo" during her audition, thanked her followers through social media for supporting her throughout the competition.

"I may have not made it to the final but I did my best! Again maraming maraming salamat po sa inyong supporta sa akin. This is not the end but the beginning of my dreams. Mabuhay po tayo!" she wrote on Facebook on Thursday (Manila time).

Gunnarsen, also known as Jing, appeared alongside the other top eight contenders as part of the "God Morgen Norge" show, a famous morning show in Norway, before she was eliminated.

Another Filipino who recently made big waves in international singing competition was Filipino-American Malaya Watson, who was voted out of "American Idol" last April.
