New PHL honorary consul in Sri Lanka formally assumes post
The new honorary Philippine consul in Sri Lanka has officially assumed his post late last month, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said.
In a news release, the DFA said Tholka Mudiyanselage Hugh Sriyal Tevindra Dissanayake took his oath in Colombo last Nov. 21.
Philippine Consul General to Bangladesh Noordin Pendosina Lomondot administered the oath of office on the new honorary consul, it said.
Sri Lanka is under the consular jurisdiction of the Philippine Embassy in Bangladesh.
Even before his oath-taking, Dissanayake assumed his post November 24 at the Philippine Consulate General at the EML Building in Colombo.
Members of the Filipino community, business groups and Dissanayake's family witnessed the oath-taking ceremony.
After the ceremony, Dissanayake vowed to render efficient services to advance the bilateral relations between the Philippines and Sri Lanka.
He also promised to promote more trade and tourism cooperation and the welfare of Filipinos in the country. —Joel Locsin/KBK, GMA News
