Pinoy in Shanghai airport blast only suffered minor injury –DFA

?The Filipino casualty in Sunday's explosion in an airport in Shanghai suffered only a minor injury and is set to return to the Philippines, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said Monday.

The Filipino was among the five people hurt when the suspect threw an improvised explosive device at the ticketing area of the Pudong International Airport on Sunday afternoon.

The suspect then committed suicide by slashing his own neck with a knife.

According to DFA spokesperson Charles Jose, the consulate in Shanghai said the Filipino suffered only a "very minor injury."

"Ayon sa report ng ating consulate, nakausap nila itong Pilipino at very minor lang ‘yung injury," he said. "Nag-sustain siya ng foot injury dahil sa debris na nangyari kaugnay sa pagsabog sa airport."

Jose said the Filipino, whom he did not identify, was brought to a nearby hospital and was immediately discharged following treatment.

He added that the Filipino is scheduled to board a flight back to the Philippines on Monday. —Kiersnerr Gerwin Tacadena/KBK, GMA News
