Pinay in viral attack video returns home from Iraq
The OFW in Iraq who broadcast the assault and threats made by a relative of her employer through Facebook Live has returned to the Philippines with help from Philippine officials.
Aguilan said December 22 seemed like an ordinary day until she was attacked by the relative of her employer who also happened to be their houseboy.
"Wala kaming kaaway, wala. Normal kami nung araw na 'yun, as in, gulat na gulat ako," she said.
Aguilan said another Filipina sold her for $4,500 while she was still at Amman, Jordan, leading to her staying at Iraq undocumented for six years while earning $400 a month.
Despite her experiences, Aguilan, a widow, is still open to returning overseas for work to support her children.
The Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) said Aguilan can still qualify for livelihood training and other OWWA benefits despite being undocumented.
OWWA Deputy Administrator Brigido Dulay said she can also train before deployment to brush up her skills and qualify for a higher salary abroad.
—Rie Takumi/KBK, GMA News
