The first Pinoy same-sex marriage in Rome

On November 26 last year, OFW Marc Jayson Bautista wed John Alex Melencio at Complesso Vignola Mattei in Rome, the capital city of Italy where he has been an OFW for eight years. It was a civil union attended by their friends and relatives, and was decided upon after Bautista proposed to Melencio in front of the Eiffel Tower while on vacation. It was also the first Filipino same-sex wedding in Rome.

Happy to learn that President Rodrigo Duterte is in favor of same sex-marriage, Bautista is hoping that their love story and union will inspire the LGBT community to fight for their rights. —KBK, GMA News
