Balikbayan complains of missing baggage upon arrival at NAIA

A balikbayan who arrived from Dallas, Texas, last month has complained of missing baggage containing items she bought for her relatives in the Philippines, GMA News' Jun Veneracion reported on 24 Oras on Wednesday.

Khrishna Dingzon said she only got one of the two checked baggage when she arrived at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 1 on April 26.

"Katas 'yun ng mga pinaghirapan ko doon [sa] trabaho," Dingzon said. "Tapos isang iglap lang mawawala."

Dingzon has already filed a complaint with Air China, which apologized for the incident and assured her that it is already looking for her missing luggage.

"We're sorry to hear that your baggage did not arrive at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport on the same flight," the airline said in its letter to Dingzon.

Dingzon, meanwhile, has already sought assistance from the NAIA. "Sa NAIA po sana po tulungan niyo ako sa bagahe ko po kasi noong Thursday pa 'yun," she said.

Sought for comment, Ed Monreal, general manager of the Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA), said the handling of baggage is the responsibility of the airline company.

"'Yan po ay iti-trace ng airline, normally seven days po iyang tracing, up to 21 days," he said.

MIAA promised that it will intervene if ever Air China will not act on Dingzon's complaint. —KBK, GMA News
