Pinoy tennis coach meted 250 years jail term in California for child molestation

A Filipino tennis coach has been sentenced in California to 250 years of imprisonment due to child molestation charges.

Normandie Santos Burgos, 55, was convicted for 60 counts of child molestation in the Bay Area.

Burgos was found to have threatened and forced his male students who were minors to have sex with him.

Among the evidence presented was a video showing Burgos forcing himself on a minor.

Burgos reportedly used his position as tennis coach and told his students he will recommend them for college scholarship only if they will have sex with him.

Judge Charles Burch will set the date for the conviction in the coming days.

Based on records, Burgos was fired as tennis coach at Tamalpais High School in California in 2006 for child molestation. He was brought to court but was not convicted due to a hung jury.

In July 2017, he was nabbed by Richmond Police at a local tennis court after police were tipped that he sexually assaulted a 16-year-old student. —KG, GMA News
