DFA: No passport processing nationwide on Election Day, May 13

The Department of Foreign Affairs on Thursday said all its consular offices nationwide will be closed on May 13, Election Day.

"This is pursuant to Proclamation No. 719, dated May 9, 2019 issued by the Executive Secretary, declaring May 13 a special non-working holiday throughout the country for the National and Local Elections," a DFA statement said.

Applicants with confirmed passport appointments on May 13 will be accommodated at their original site from May 14-31, except Saturdays.

Applicants must bring a printout of their confirmed passport appointments along with the other requirements for their passport application.

The DFA issues around 10,000 passports daily or 3 million passports a year, but that huge demand increases to 25,000 per day during the peak travel seasons like in the Christmas season and the summer holidays. — Michaela Del Callar/RSJ, GMA News
