DFA: Hong Kong to deny entry to non-residents

The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) advised Filipino travelers that Hong Kong will deny entry to non-residents, including transit passengers, starting 12 a.m. on Tuesday.

“All travelers are advised to check if their inbound or outbound flights from Philippine airports will be affected by this new restriction, and adjust travel plans accordingly,” the department said in a statement.

Hong Kong’s travel restrictions will be in effect for two weeks.

The move to temporarily close borders is part of government efforts to curb the spread of the new coronavirus.

The DFA earlier said seven Filipinos have tested positive for COVID-19, or coronavirus disease 2019, in Hong Kong.

Of this number, four have already recovered while three are still being treated at hospitals. --Julia Mari Ornedo/KBK, GMA News
