Pinoys entering Japan required to undergo 14-day quarantine

Japan will ask travelers from Philippines to undergo 14-day self-quarantine as part of measures to contain the spread of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe said Japan will begin asking visitors as well as its nationals arriving from Southeast Asia -- which include the Philippines, Thailand, Singapore, Vietnam and Malaysia -- to self-isolate for 14 days, according to a report by Kyodo News.

The request to self-quarantine also applies to those arriving from the Middle East and Africa.

Japan also banned entry on foreigners coming from 21 European countries and Iran.

Subject to travel ban are those coming from Andorra, Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Estonia, France, Germany, Italy, Ireland, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Malta, Monaco, the Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, and the Vatican. --Ted Cordero/KBK, GMA News
