Wife of Pinoy seaman on stranded Oasis of the Seas asks for help for his safe return

The wife of a Filipino seafarer on board the MV Oasis of the Seas passenger ship in the United States has asked the concerned authorities to help her husband return to the country safely.

According to JP Soriano's report on "24 Oras", the seaman has expressed concern that some members of the crew may be positive for the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

"Sana po maaksyonan na, makauwi na sila. Humihingi po ako ng tulong sa inyo, para na rin sa kaligtasan nating lahat," the wife said.

According to a letter of one of the crew members, 14 of the ship's crew members have already tested positive for the virus.

The staff further said this was unexpected as the ship has not received any passengers for two weeks.

The crew member also expressed their interest to return to the country.

However, the Oasis of the Seas passenger ship is only one of the many cruise ships with Pinoy members who are stranded across the globe.

The Department of Foreign Affairs said that more than 5,000 stranded Filipino seafarers are scheduled to be repatriated over the following days. -NB, GMA News
