Pinay nurse described as 'ray of sunshine' dies of suspected COVID-19 in UK

A Filipina nurse and suspected COVID-19 case has died in Rugby, a market town in England in the United Kingdom, online reports said.

Leilani Dayrit had been "a ray of sunshine to those people who were fortunate to meet her," according to a GoFundMe page set up in her memory.

The 47-year-old Dayrit, or Mummy Lei as she was fondly called by her colleagues, was based at St Cross Hospital in Rugby. BBC News reported that she had been self-isolating at home for seven days before she died.

"A selfless person who unconditionally loves her family above all else," the GoFundMe page said of Dayrit. "A very loving daughter and sister whose compass in life was to make their future happy and secured."

The BBC report said Dayrit had asthma.

Meanwhile, a report on Metro UK said two other Filipino hospital employees had died of suspected COVID-19.

The report identified the two as Oscar King Jr and Elbert Rico, both employed as porters at John Radcliffe hospital. --KBK, GMA News
