Filipinos abroad with COVID-19 now almost 10,000 —DFA


The number of Filipinos abroad who have tested positive for the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) reached almost 10,000 on Wednesday after the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) reported 26 new infections, bringing the total to 9,959.

The DFA also announced that total recoveries rose to 5,868 with eight new ones while seven new deaths brought the total number of fatalities to 733.

At present, there are 3,358 patients undergoing treatment.

According to data from the DFA, there are a total of 1,094 cases in the Asia and the Pacific region. Of this, 357 are patients undergoing treatment, 729 have recovered, and eight have succumbed to the illness.

The Middle East or Africa has, meanwhile, reported 6,918 cases with 2,341 patients undergoing treatment, 4,125 recoveries, and 452 fatalities.

In Europe, there are 1,156 COVID-19 cases with 501 patients undergoing treatment. A total of 560 patients in the region have recovered while 95 have died.

Meanwhile, no new cases were reported in the Americas with the total case count remaining at 791, patients undergoing treatment at 159, recoveries at 454, and the death toll at 178.
