Filipinos abroad with COVID-19 now at 14,041


Twenty-five more Filipinos abroad on Wednesday have tested positive for the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), bringing the total to 14,041, according to the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA).

The DFA also announced that total recoveries among Filipino nationals abroad climbed to 8,964 after 10 more recovered from the illness while two new fatalities brought the death toll to 954.

At present, there are 4,123 patients still undergoing treatment.

Data from the DFA showed that a total of 2,795 Filipinos have tested positive in Asia and the Pacific region, with 797 still undergoing treatment. The region reported that 1,977 have recovered while 21 have died.

Meanwhile, 7,881 cases have been reported in the Middle East or Africa with 2,517 still undergoing treatment. Recoveries and fatalities in the region were recorded at 4,754 and 610, respectively.

Europe has also reported a total of 2,529 cases, of which 709 are still undergoing treatment, 1,697 have recovered, and 123 have succumbed to the illness.

A total of 836 Filipinos, meanwhile, have tested positive for COVID-19 in the Americas with 100 patients still undergoing treatment. The region has reported 536 recoveries and 200 fatalities. — Joahna Lei Casilao/BM, GMA News
