26 new COVID-19 cases among Filipinos abroad bring total to 18,416
Twenty-six more Filipinos in other countries have been diagnosed with COVID-19, raising the total count of infected Filipinos abroad to 18,416, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said Tuesday.
On Twitter, the Department of Foreign Affairs' data also showed that 5,980 Filipinos are still undertaking treatment at health facilities. It also reported 94 countries recorded COVID-19 infections among Filipinos.
The total tally of recoveries among Filipinos living abroad reached 11,289, including 12 more recoveries, DFA data also showed.
The DFA did not report new deaths among Filipinos overseas. This maintained the fatality tally at 1,147.
The region with the highest number of virus-hit Filipinos is the Middle East and Africa, with 10,453 cases. Of the number, 5,902 recovered while have 747 died.
In Americas, 981 confirmed cases were reported, with 241 deaths and 625 recoveries.
Also, there are 3,385 Filipinos in Europe who were diagnosed with COVID-19. This includes 130 Filipinos who lost their lives to the disease and 2,314 who survived the severe respiratory ailment.
In the Asia Pacific Region, 3,597 Filipinos were infected with the severe viral ailment, of whom 29 died and 2,448 have recovered. — Consuelo Marquez/BM, GMA News
