DFA: 21 more Filipinos abroad infected with COVID-19


The Department of Foreign Affairs on Tuesday reported 21 new cases of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) among Filipinos overseas, bringing the total tally to 20,773.

 

 

The DFA said total recoveries increased to 12,261 after 27 more patients defeated the disease.

The death toll rose to 1,229 with two new fatalities.

So far, there are 7,283 active cases undergoing treatment.

The Middle East/Africa remained to be the region with the most number of confirmed COVID-19 cases among Filipinos overseas at 11,759 with 822 deaths and 6,416 recoveries.

The Asia Pacific Region followed with 4,476 infections including 33 fatalities and 2,736 recoveries.

In Europe, 3,552 Filipinos were infected with the illness, of which 130 have died and 2,482 have recovered.

In the Americas, 986 cases were recorded including 244 deaths and 627 recoveries.—Ma. Angelica Garcia/LDF, GMA News
