Pinoys in Israel advised to take extra precaution amid Gaza tension
The Philippine Embassy in Israel on Saturday advised Filipinos in Israel to be more cautious due to the ongoing tension in the Gaza Strip.
"Maging maingat at mapagmatyag sa paligid," the embassy said in an advisory posted on Facebook.
Those living inside the Gaza Envelope and in the southern part of Israel were also advised to observe the following guidelines as given by the Home Front Command:
- educational activities are prohibited;
- work activities may only be conducted inside standard protected space near a bomb shelter; and
- small gatherings of up to 10 people are allowed in outdoor spaces and up to 50 people in indoor spaces.
Filipinos were also advised to avoid or postpone trips to sensitive areas such as Golan Heights, near the border of Lebanon, and at the border with Gaza.
When gunshots are heard, or one witnesses any commotion, or one is caught in an ongoing commotion or violence, the embassy said Filipinos should hide or avoid being in the area, and immediately leave the place.
"Huwag na huwag kukuha ng litrato/video, o mag-usyoso sa nagaganap na kaguluhan o karahasan dahil ito ay delikado," the embassy said.
It also advised Filipinos to avoid or postpone going to crowded places as much as possible.
The embassy also said Filipinos should exercise more precaution when using public transport or even while waiting at a bus stop or station.
It also said Pinoys should monitor developments regarding the ongoing tension in Gaza via trustworthy sources such as newspapers and television.
"Huwag lumapit sa mga Israeli security forces na naka-puwesto sa sensitibong lugar na nabanggit sa itaas," the embassy said.
Filipinos were also advised to call any of the following when help is needed:
- Police: 100
- Magen David Adom (Ambulance/Emergency Medical Service): 101
- Fire: 102
