DFA monitoring case of slain OFW in Saudi Arabia —official

The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) is monitoring the case of slain overseas Filipino worker (OFW) Marjorette Garcia to ensure that justice will be served.

DFA Assistant Secretary Paul Cortes said that their lawyers in Saudi Arabia will ensure that the case against the suspect will run properly and that justice will be served for Garcia.

“Itong pagpatay ng isang tao, hindi lang siya krimen against the person involved, ‘yung biktima, pero krimen against society,” he said in a Super Radyo dzBB interview.

Cortes earlier said that police rushed Garcia to a hospital after she was found bloodied due to a stab wound. The victim died while undergoing treatment at the facility.

Saudi Arabian authorities have already arrested the suspect, a co-worker of the victim.

“Andiyan ang special prosecutor ng Saudi Arabia doing the necessary case filing against the suspected perpetrator,” Cortes said.
