87 distressed OFWs repatriated from Saudi Arabia
Eighty-seven distressed overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) returned to the country from Saudi Arabia on Saturday, the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) said.
The repatriates, who arrived at Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 3, also included three children.
“Hindi nakasama ang ilan due to delays in the administrative processing of papers, but they will follow and come home in the next few days as soon as this is done,” said DMW spokesperson Toby Nebrida.
(Others weren’t able to join due to delays in the administrative processing of papers, but they will follow and come home in the next few days as soon as this is done.)
The repatriates were provided with US$200 each as initial monetary support by the DMW’s Migrant Workers Office in Riyadh, which also arranged their flight back to Manila.
The OFWs will also receive benefits such as financial assistance, medical check-up and referral services, as well as psychosocial evaluation and assessment.
The government will also provide transportation services to OFWs who live in the provinces, as well as overnight hotel accommodations for those who have connecting flights. —VBL, GMA Integrated News
