Support pours for Fil-Am couple's orphaned children in Michigan

NEW YORK - The community in the U.S. has come together to contribute and help the six children orphaned by the Filipino-American couple, Ryan and Jen Ambrosio, who died tragically in an accident in Michigan last week.

Donations for the six children aged 2 to 9 have now surpassed half a million dollars, coming from the Filipino community and other places as well.

Brandi and Christina Rodriguez, who launched a GoFundMe page for the Ambrosio children, expressed their gratitude for the overwhelming support.

"Our family is stunned by the outpouring of support this fundraiser has generated. We've increased our fundraising goal in response and are so incredibly grateful for the community's generosity."

Despite the children being without their parents, the Ambrosio family reassured everyone that they have always had the presence and support of a large extended family, ensuring they are raised together in a safe and loving home.

The Ambrosio family requested privacy during this difficult time.

On January 6, the Ambrosio couple's SUV, coming from a date night and heading home, was hit by a pickup truck chased by the Michigan State Police.

The pickup truck, driven by the suspect identified as Angel Melendez-Ortiz was involved in a wrong-way driving situation and is now facing multiple charges, including two counts of second-degree murder. —VAL, GMA Integrated News
