Israel extends amnesty deadline for Filipino caregivers with expiring work permits

The Israeli government said they are extending the amnesty deadline of caregivers with expiring work permits due to the prevailing situation in the country.

In a Super Radyo dzBB report by Mao dela Cruz on Sunday, the Philippine Embassy in Israel issued an advisory that the Population Immigration and Border Authority (PIBA) released a notice on April 4, 2024 to all employers who requested to extend the work licenses of their foreign caregivers that were denied by the Humanitarian Committee.

Due to the prevailing situation in Israel and for the benefit of Israeli employers, PIBA is extending the amnesty program which it announced on January 10, 2024 and will postpone apprehending caregivers with expired work permits, including those from the Philippines, who are being assisted by their employers in obtaining new work permits under Section 1EG of the Foreign Workers law of 1991.

Instead of the original April 30 deadline, the program is extended until July 31, 2024.

The extension covers caregivers who are currently working in the homes of their employers but they are required to complete the necessary requirements before April 30, 2024.—RF, GMA Integrated News
