2 OFWs hurt in Hong Kong heavy downpour —DMW

Two overseas Filipino workers (OFW) in Hong Kong were injured during heavy rains on Saturday, according to Sam Nielsen's report on Super Radyo dzBB on Sunday.

According to the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW), they are now closely monitoring the condition of the two OFWs through its Migrant Workers Office (MWO) and Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) Office in Hong Kong.

"The two OFWs, a married couple working for a resort owner in Sai Kung, New Territories, Hong Kong, were taking photos and videos of the storm's damage to the facility when a landslide occurred," the DMW said.

Both were immediately taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

The DMW said the wife sustained head injuries but is now in stable condition and still in hospital for further observation, while her husband suffered leg injuries and is currently undergoing an operation.

The DMW-MWO-OWWA has provided initial financial assistance to the couple and will continue monitoring their condition. — Sherylin Untalan/BM, GMA Integrated News
