DMW offices in Taiwan on 'high-alert' after twin quakes

Two offices of the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) in Taiwan were placed under high alert following a twin quake that struck the island on Monday.

In an issued statement, the DMW said they have yet to receive reports of injured Filipinos in Taiwan but are now coordinating with leaders, communities, employers, and trade associations to check on their condition.

It is also working with the Manila Economic and Cultural Office (MECO) to ensure their safety.

Local media reported a magnitude 5.9 earthquake struck Taiwan on Monday. It was followed by a second magnitude 5.9 quake seven minutes later at 5:52 p.m.
