Filipino priest to lead finance department of Franciscan congregation

A Filipino priest has been assigned to oversee the financial management of the religious congregation, Order of Friars Minor, according to the report of the Catholic Bishops' Conference of the Philippines (CBCP).

Fr. Joel Sulse will be the new general oeconomus or general bursar and will be working at the OFM general curia in Rome, Italy and will be formally assume he position on August 1, 2024.

The Order of Friars Minor, also called the Franciscans, the Franciscan Order, or the Seraphic Order; postnominal abbreviation O.F.M., is a mendicant Catholic religious order, founded in 1209 by St. Francis of Assisi.

The report added that a send-off Mass was celebrated on Sunday at the Santuario de San Antonio Parish in Makati City with Fr. Lino Gregorio Redoblado, the minister provincial of the OFM Philippines, as presider.

Sulse's past assignments include St. Clare of Assisi Parish in Malabon City, Secretary for Formation and Studies, and chairperson of the OFM's Committee on Promotions for Clerical Ministry. — BAP, GMA Integrated News
