NBI: 4 Filipino fatalities in Myanmar earthquake have been identified

National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) Director Jaime Santiago on Friday said that authorities have positively identified four Filipino fatalities in the magnitude 7.7 earthquake in Myanmar.

“‘Yung four na Filipino na namatay sa Myanmar Earthquake positively identified ng DNA natin,” Santiago said in a message to reporters.

(The four Filipinos who died in the Myanmar earthquake have been positively identified through our DNA testing.)

Authorities previously said that DNA samples were taken from decomposed corpses believed to be a missing Filipino couple and the couple’s relatives.

Two other Filipinos were earlier confirmed dead.

More than 3,000 people reportedly died in the earthquake on March 28. — BAP, GMA Integrated News
