DFA: No Pinoy casualties amid India, Pakistan fighting
The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) on Thursday said there had been no report of Filipino casualties amid the fighting between India and Pakistan.
In a statement, the DFA said it is closely monitoring the situation between the two countries.
“We call for a peaceful resolution to the current issues,” the DFA said.
“Our Embassy in Islamabad has confirmed that there are no reports of Filipino casualties in the incident,” it added.
The DFA also advised the Filipino community in the affected areas to take sensible precautions and continue to be vigilant amid the developing situation.
India attacked Pakistan and Pakistani Kashmir, with Pakistan saying it had shot down five Indian fighter jets in the worst fighting in more than two decades between the nuclear-armed states.
India said it struck nine Pakistani "terrorist infrastructure" sites, some of them linked to an attack by Islamist militants on Hindu tourists that killed 26 people in Indian Kashmir last month.
According to reports, Islamabad said six Pakistani locations were targeted, and that none of them were militant camps. —RF, GMA Integrated News
