OFW from Kuwait died on the way home to Dumaguete —OWWA

The Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) on Wednesday confirmed that an overseas Filipino worker (OFW) from Kuwait died while on the way home to Dumaguete.

OFW Wilma Auza died of cardiac arrest on Monday as she made her way home on a bus, the OWWA said in a statement.

OWWA Administrator Patricia Yvonne "PY" Caunan also said they are getting more information as reports came out that Auza passed by other areas before going to Dumaguete.

"We are finding out po kasi di naman po siya repatriated worker. Siya po ay umuwi because of end of contract. We are on the ground. We are going to release an update soon po," she said.

(We are finding out because she was not a repatriated worker. She went home [to the Philippines] because of end of contract.)

OWWA said that they are now coordinating with her family to provide support and financial assistance.

(Ms. Wilma is not just an OFW but a mother, a wife, and a friend who endured sacrifice for the future of the family. Her dedication and love are proof of the strength and the heroism of our Filipino workers overseas.)
