Remain indoors, PH advises Filipinos in Nepal
The escalation of protests in Nepal prompted the Philippine government on Wednesday to advise the more than 120 Filipinos there to remain indoors.
In view of recent developments in Nepal and until the situation stabilizes, Filipinos who are in Nepal are advised to shelter in their respective current residences and avoid going out.
Filipinos were also urged to follow all safety and security instructions of local authorities, observe the curfews and exercise all due caution.
"The Department of Foreign Affairs, through its embassy in New Delhi and its honorary consulate general in Kathmandu, Nepal, are actively monitoring developments and the situation of Filipinos, and are in touch with Filipino community organizations in the country," according to a DFA advisory in Manila.
There were no reports of Filipino nationals affected by the ongoing unrest in Nepal, it added.
There are a total of 128 Filipinos in the South Asian nation, which has been wracked by weeks of violent anti-corruption protests that led to the resignation of its prime minister, KP Sharma Oli.
At least 22 people have been killed in the raging mass demonstrations and dozens more injured.
