No Filipinos hurt in Seoul bus crash — PH embassy

The Philippine Embassy in Korea has reported that no Filipinos were hurt when a bus crashed into a building in Seoul on Friday afternoon, a mishap which left 13 people injured.

In a Facebook advisory on Friday evening, the embassy said it has coordinated with the Seodaemun police station following the incident.

"Based on initial reports, the Embassy is pleased to confirm that no Filipino nationals were injured or affected by the incident," the advisory read.

The Yonhap News Agency reported that two of the 13 wounded individuals were in serious condition.

TV footage from YTN, a local news channel, showed a stationary full-size passenger bus with its front crashed into what appeared to be the glass facade of a large building, apparently after driving over a wide section of a pedestrian sidewalk.

The injured included the bus driver and two pedestrians, including a woman in her 50s with a leg fracture and a man in his 30s with a head injury, Yonhap said, citing the fire agency.

The Philippine embassy extended its sympathy and well-wishes for a speedy recovery to the wounded and their families.

Members of the Filipino community were urged to "remain vigilant, particularly while traveling."

Meanwhile, Filipinos were encouraged to wear appropriate clothing with colder weather expected in the coming days as this would help ensure their safety and well-being, the embassy's advisory read. — with a report from Reuters/ VDV, GMA Integrated News
