OWWA: 200 OFWs from Kuwait arrive in PH
A total of 200 Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) from Kuwait arrived at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) on Tuesday, according to the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA).
In a social media post, OWWA said the OFWs returned to the Philippines on board Gulf Air Flight GF154.
They were welcomed by the agency, the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW), and the Department of Social Welfare and Development, who ensured a smooth arrival process.
The OFWs received financial aid, food, and assistance for transportation and temporary shelter arrangements.
“Patuloy na nakaalalay ang pamahalaan sa bawat hakbang ng kanilang pagbabalik—mula pagdating sa bansa hanggang sa kanilang reintegration sa kani-kanilang komunidad,” OWWA said.
(The government continues to support OFWs at every step of their return—from arrival in the country to their reintegration into their respective communities.)
On Monday, DMW said 13 OFWs and an infant were safely repatriated from Iraq and arrived in Manila after transiting through Hong Kong.
In a statement, the DMW, quoting the Migrant Workers Office in Hong Kong, said the repatriation effort was done in coordination with the Philippine Embassy in Baghdad and the Philippine Consulate General in Hong Kong.
The agency tasked the MWO Hong Kong “to extend all necessary assistance during the group’s transit and ensure their safe return to the Philippines.” —Mariel Celine Serquiña/RF, GMA News
