79 OFWs from Kuwait, Russia return to PH

A total of 79 Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs)from Kuwait and Russia have safely returned to the Philippines, according to the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA).

In a social media post, OWWA said the OFWs arrived at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) early Saturday morning.

Of the 61 OFWs from Kuwait who arrived at NAIA Terminal 1 via a Kuwait Airways flight, 60 came from the Sulaibiya Deportation Center, while one OFW voluntarily chose to return to the Philippines.

Meanwhile, 18 OFWs from Russia arrived at NAIA Terminal 3 via an Air China flight.

They were welcomed and assisted by the OWWA and Department of Migrants Workers personnel.

The OFWs also received food, financial assistance, transportation assistance, and temporary accommodations.

Through the Alagang OWWA, the agency said it continues to provide reintegration programs, livelihood assistance, training, and other interventions to returning OFWs.

On Saturday, the Philippine Embassy in Kuwait issued a safety advisory urging Filipinos in the country to exercise caution and remain alert amid renewed attacks in the Gulf region involving Iran and the United States.

The embassy also urged Filipinos to monitor only official news sources to ensure they receive accurate and reliable information on developments in the conflict.
