Pinoys in Paris urged to take caution ahead of UEFA Champions League final
The Philippine Embassy in Paris has issued a public safety advisory urging Filipinos in the French capital to exercise caution as the Paris-Saint Germain (PSG) team takes on Arsenal in the UEFA Champions League final.
The embassy's advisory was issued in view of major events, expected public gatherings, and heightened security measures across Paris on May 30 to 31, 2026.
It also cited large-scale gatherings linked to PSG's participation in the Champions League-related activities in Budapest.
"The Paris Police have promised to provide maximum security to all Parisians in light of what may be wild celebrations in the event of a PSG victory," the Philippine embassy said.
It added, "All citizens are therefore advised to take all necessary precautions and note that many major streets in the capital, including the Champs Elysées, will be closed to vehicular traffic in the evening."
The two teams will collide at Puskas Arena in Budapest, Hungary on May 30, Saturday. PSG is seeking to defend its first-ever title, while Arsenal wants to claim its first championship in the tournament.
In view of this, the embassy advised Filipinos to remain vigilant, avoid crowded areas, anticipate traffic disruptions, and follow instructions from local authorities. — VDV, GMA News
