SSS partners with OFW group to expand coverage in Saudi
The Social Security System (SSS) on Tuesday announced that it has signed an agreement with the OFW Council of Leaders to promote social security coverage among overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) in Saudi Arabia and their families.
In a news release, the SSS said the memorandum of understanding (MOU) was signed on June 22 as part of the state pension fund’s efforts to expand membership among OFWs in the Middle East.
The agreement was signed by OFW Council of Leaders Director-General Mofiedah Daknash and SSS Vice President for Asia, Americas and Pacific Operations Division Paul Erik Manalo.
According to the SSS, the MOU will mobilize more than 100 Filipino community leaders in Saudi Arabia to encourage migrant workers to register as SSS members and secure social protection for themselves and their families.
The pension fund said the signing marked a milestone, noting that the OFW Council of Leaders is the first Filipino community network in the Middle East to formalize a partnership with the SSS in promoting its programs and services. —MCG, GMA News
