9 more Pinoys abroad get COVID-19 —DFA
The Department of Foreign Affairs on Thursday logged nine new cases of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) among Filipinos overseas, raising the total tally to 13,633.
Latest data from the DFA also showed that total recoveries rose to 8,748 after three more Filipinos abroad defeated the respiratory illness.
The death toll, meanwhile, remained at 944 with no new fatalities recorded.
The Middle East/Africa still had the highest number of COVID-19-positive Filipinos at 7,845 including 4,752 recoveries and 605 deaths.
The Asia Pacific Region followed with 2,749 cases with 1,962 recoveries and 21 fatalities.
In Europe, a total of 2,225 cases have been recorded. 118 of whom have died, while 1,501 have recovered.
Moreover, in the Americas, 814 Filipinos have been infected with the viral disease. 533 of whom have recovered, while 200 have died.
“The DFA shall continue to keep track of the status of overseas Filipinos, and facilitate repatriations, whenever possible,” the department said. — Ma. Angelica Garcia/BM, GMA News
