2 Pinoys killed, 3 others hurt in Saudi Arabia road accident

Two Filipinos were killed while three others were wounded in a road accident in Saudi Arabia last Thursday, according to Consul General Edgar Badajos.

Badajos said the accident happened on the last day of the holy month of Ramadan in Jizan in the western region of Saudi Arabia.

"Etong mga kababayan natin ay lumabas para bumili ng pagkain dahil nga end ng Ramadan ay preparation para sa kanilang Eid Festival. Pero sa kasamaang palad, on their way to the grocery, ang sasakyan nila ay sinalpok ng isang GMC van," Badajos said, adding the victims were all Muslim converts.

He said one died on the spot while the other died in a hospital.

The GMC van was reportedly driven by a Saudi national.

Badajos said investigation is ongoing on what caused the accident.

"Kung may kasalanan ang driver ng GMC, of course, meron 'yang kaso. Maaari nating habulin. Isang tulong natin sa mga namatayan at mga na-injured ay ang pagtulong sa kaso na isasampa sa driver," he said.

He also assured the families of the victims of government help. —Ronaldo Concha/KBK, GMA News
