Drowned Pinoy couple's remains to arrive at NAIA Saturday afternoon

Officials from the Department of Foreign Affairs will meet the remains of the newlywed Filipino couple who drowned during their honeymoon in Maldives last week.

Citing information from the Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA), a report on Super Radyo dzBB said the remains of Leomer Lagradilla and Erica Joyce are expected to arrive on Etihad flight at about 3:30 p.m.

Leomer and Erica were having their honeymoon, and were guests in a resort on Dhiffushi Island in Maldives when the tragedy struck them on January 13, 2019, shortly after their wedding last December.

Earlier reports indicated they were snorkeling when they began to drown. Rescuers tried to save the couple, but they were pronounced dead at a local hospital.

Last week, the DFA vowed to shoulder the repatriation expenses of the couple's remains.

After meeting with the DFA officials, the father of Leomer said Secretary Teddy Locsin Jr. assured them that the agency will shoulder the expenses. —LBG, GMA News
