DFA launches 'OFW Help' Facebook page

Distressed overseas Filipino workers all over the world may now forward their concerns to Philippine authorities through a Facebook page, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said.

According to Mao dela Cruz's report on Dobol B sa News TV on Tuesday, the DFA has launched an "OFW Help" page to better serve OFWs in need of government assistance.

Through the widely-used social media platform, the DFA Office of the Undersecretary for Migrant Workers' Affairs aims to establish a smoother, organized system of processing concerns.

According to the report, more than half of the families of OFWs use Facebook to connect with their loved ones working abroad.

OFWs who are unable to go to their nearest Philippine Embassy or Consulate may now seek help from the authorities through the Facebook page, the report said.

The page will also to cater to undocumented OFWs or those who are not certified members of the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), it added. —Margaret Claire Layug/KBK, GMA News
