COVID-19 positive OFWs climbs to 651 with 21 new cases


The number of Filipinos abroad who tested positive for the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) climbed to 651 after the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) reported 21 new cases.

Meanwhile, 16 more OFWsrecovered from the virus, bringing the total number of recoveries to 188 across the Americas, Asia and the Pacific, Europe, and the Middle East or Africa.

The death toll, unfortunately, also increased to 84 with five new deaths.

"In everyone’s stillness and quiet reflection, the DFA continues with its efforts to protect the welfare of our OFs abroad, and shares the prayer for renewal of hope and healing not only of our kabayayan but of all people across the globe affected by COVID-19," the DFA said.

Patients undergoing treatment were recorded at 379.
 



According to DFA data, nine patients in the Asia Pacific Region recovered from the virus, bringing the total number of recoveries in the region to 140.

Patients undergoing treatment, meanwhile, were recorded at 85 while fatalities remained at one.

In the Middle East or Africa, both recoveries and fatalities increased by one, bringing the total number to three and five, respectively, while patients undergoing treatment remained at 72.

Meanwhile, recoveries in Europe increased to 17 with six new patients recovered.

However, the death toll in the region increased by two, now at 32, while patients undergoing investigation increased to 171.

The DFA reported two new deaths in the Americas, bringing the total to 46 while recoveries remained at 28.

Patients undergoing treatment in the region were recorded at 51. — DVM, GMA News
