1,645 OFWs in Qatar displaced due to COVID-19 pandemic — ambassador

At least 1,645 overseas Filipino workers in Qatar have been displaced due to the COVID-19 crisis, Philippine Ambassador to Doha Alan Timbayan said Tuesday.

Apart from displaced workers, Timbayan said in a televised briefing that 4,055 Filipinos have been forced to go on leave.

He urged Filipinos to follow updates from the embassy and the COVID-19 policies of the Qatar government as well as to stay calm.

Government data showed there are 241,109 overseas Filipinos in Qatar as of January this year. — Virgil Lopez/RSJ, GMA News
