DFA: Passport, delivery fees can now be paid online via credit/debit card

Passport application and delivery fees can now be paid online thru credit or debit card as a safety measure in light of the coronavirus pandemic, the Department of Foreign Affairs said Tuesday.

Previously, passport applicants could only pay for passport fees through over-the-counter payments, requiring them to leave their homes and go to the nearest accredited payment center.

"This new system of paying through credit and debit cards offers faster and real-time payment without having to leave the safety of their own homes," according to a DFA public advisory.

While applicants still have the option to make over-the-counter payments and to pick up their passport at the consular office where they made their application, the DFA strongly recommends that applicants avail of the online payment system and courier service to avoid exposure and health risks.

The DFA said it has partnered with PayMaya Philippines Inc. which allows more payments options for the transacting public. — Michaela del Callar/RSJ, GMA News
