Pregnant OFW is Macau's only active COVID-19 case —DFA exec

A pregnant overseas Filipino worker (OFW) is currently the lone active case of COVID-19 in Macau, according to Foreign Affairs Undersecretary Dodo Dulay on Tuesday.

"A pregnant OFW returning to Macau from a vacation in PH was diagnosed as COVID-positive. Macau PCG (Philippine Consulate General) reports this is the only active COVID case in Macau at present," Dulay said on Twitter.

Dulay said Philippine officials are already coordinating with Macau health authorities in monitoring the condition of the OFW.

No other details were made available as to when the migrant worker went to the country for vacation, but it reported last week that a pregnant OFW from Macau has tested positive for COVID-19 after arriving in Davao De Oro.

GMA News Online asked Dulay if the two cases are referring to the same OFW but has yet to receive a response as of posting time.

Macau is a special administrative region of China. According to data from the World Health Organization, China has over 85,000 COVID-19 cases but only 14 new ones were recorded on July 6. —Dona Magsino/KBK, GMA News
