17 more Filipinos abroad recover from COVID-19; total cases at 8,688


Seventeen more Filipinos abroad have recovered from the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), bringing the total to 5,218, according to the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA).

The DFA also announced that total confirmed cases increased to 8,688 with nine new infections while fatalities remained at 577.

As of July 7, there are 2,893 patients still undergoing treatment.
 

 

Data from the DFA showed that total cases in the Asia Pacific Region rose to 670 with 121 patients undergoing treatment. Total recoveries increased to 545 with 13 new ones while fatalities remained at four.

In the Middle East or Africa, total cases were recorded at 6,305 with 2,180 patients undergoing treatment. Four more recoveries in the region brought the total to 3,814 while the death toll remained at 311.

Europe reported a total of 1,016 cases with 473 patients undergoing treatment. Recoveries and fatalities remained at 449 and 94, respectively.

Meanwhile, no new cases were reported in the Americas for the third consecutive day. Total cases were recorded at 697 with 119 patients undergoing treatment while recoveries remained at 410 and fatalities at 168. —LDF, GMA News
