DFA: Filipinos abroad with COVID-19 now at 10,329 with 15 new cases
The number of Filipinos abroad who have tested positive for the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) climbed to 10,329 on Tuesday with 15 new infections, according to the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA).
According to the DFA, 17 more Filipinos have also recovered from the illness, bringing the total to 6,571, while one more fatality brought the death toll to 773.
Meanwhile, there are 2,985 patients still undergoing treatment.
Data from the DFA showed a total of 1,327 cases in the Asia and the Pacific region with 328 patients undergoing treatment. A total of 991 patients in the region have recovered while eight have succumbed to the disease.
In the Middle East or Africa, there are 7,025 cases with 2,294 patients undergoing treatment, 4,239 recoveries, and 492 fatalities.
Europe has reported a total of 1,172 cases. Of this, 197 are patients undergoing treatment, 880 have recovered, while 95 have succumbed to the illness.
Meanwhile, there are a total of 805 cases reported in the Americas with 166 patients still undergoing treatment. A total of 461 patients have recovered while 178 have died.
“To date, the Middle East remains to be the region with the most number of confirmed COVID-19 cases, recoveries, under treatment, and fatalities among our nationals,” the DFA said.
“The Americas now has the least numbers in all categories compared to other geographic regions, except in the total number of deaths, wherein Asia and the Pacific ranks lowest with only 8 fatalities,” it added. — Joahna Lei Casilao/BM, GMA News
