6 more Filipinos abroad get COVID-19 —DFA


The Department of Foreign Affairs on Wednesday logged six new cases of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) among Filipinos overseas, raising the total tally to 11,573.

Latest data from the DFA showed that total recoveries also rose to 7,492 after five more Filipinos abroad defeated the respiratory illness.

The death toll, meanwhile, remained at 834 with no new fatalities recorded.

The Middle East/Africa still had the highest number of COVID-19-positive Filipinos at 7,535, including 4,657 recoveries and 549 deaths.

The Asia Pacific Region followed with 1,895 cases with 1,322 recoveries and nine fatalities.

In Europe, a total of 1,313 cases have been recorded. 97 of whom have died, while 993 have recovered.

Moreover, in the Americas, 830 Filipinos have been infected with the viral disease. 520 of whom have recovered, while 179 have died.

“The DFA, together with its Foreign Service Posts, remains fully committed to monitoring and assisting our nationals abroad amidst this ongoing battle against the COVID-19 pandemic.,” the department said. — Ma. Angelica Garcia/BM, GMA News
