Filipinos abroad with COVID-19 near 16K —DFA
The Department of Foreign Affairs on Wednesday reported 36 new cases of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) among Filipinos overseas, bringing the total tally to 15,928.
According to the DFA, total recoveries also increased to 9,645 with 80 new recoveries, while one new fatality brought the death toll to 1,044.
So far, there are 5,239 active cases undergoing treatment.
The Middle East/Africa still recorded the highest number of COVID-19-positive Filipinos at 8,881, including 4,756 recoveries and 672 deaths.
Europe followed with 3,188 cases with 2,183 recoveries and 128 fatalities.
In the Asia Pacific Region, a total of 2,969 cases have been recorded. Twenty-one of whom have died, while 2,116 have recovered.
Further, in the Americas, 890 Filipinos have been infected with the respiratory illness. A total of 590 have recovered, while 223 have died.
