DFA: Filipinos abroad with COVID-19 now at 18,659


The number of Filipinos abroad who have tested positive for the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) rose to 18,659 on Saturday after the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) reported one new infection.

According to the DFA, total recoveries and fatalities were also recorded at 11,400 and 1,168, respectively.

At present, there are 6,091 patients still undergoing treatment.

Data from the DFA showed a total of 3,799 cases in Asia and the Pacific region with 1,231 patients undergoing treatment. A total of 2,536 patients in the region have recovered while 32 have died.

The Middle East or Africa, meanwhile, reported 10,473 cases with 3,796 patients undergoing treatment. Recoveries and fatalities in the region were recorded at 5,913 and 764, respectively.

In Europe, a total of 3,403 Filipinos tested positive for the illness. Of this, 949 are still undergoing treatment, 2,324 have recovered, and 130 have died.

Meanwhile, a total of 984 cases were recorded in the Americas with 115 still undergoing treatment. The region reported 627 recoveries and 242 fatalities. — DVM, GMA News
