DFA reports 143 new COVID-19 cases among Pinoys abroad


The Department of Foreign Affairs on Tuesday reported 143 new cases of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) among Filipinos overseas, bringing the total tally to 18,840.

Latest data from the DFA showed that total recoveries also increased to 11,560 after 130 more patients defeated the respiratory illness.

The death toll, meanwhile, remained at 1,168.

So far, there are 6,112 patients undergoing treatment.

The Middle East/Africa remained to be the region with the most number of confirmed COVID-19 cases among Filipinos abroad at 10,473 with 764 deaths and 5,913 recoveries.

The Asia Pacific Region followed with 3,863 infections including 32 fatalities and 2,561 recoveries

In Europe, a total of 3,520 Filipinos were infected with the virus, of which 130 have died, while 2,459 have recovered.

The Americas, meanwhile, have recorded 984 cases with 242 fatalities and 627 recoveries. — Ma. Angelica Garcia/BM, GMA News
