22 more Filipinos from Afghanistan arrive in the Philippines

Twenty-two more Filipinos who have evacuated from the now Taliban-ruled Afghanistan have arrived in the Philippines, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) announced Wednesday in a tweet posted by GMA's JP Soriano.

According to the latest situation bulletin, the repatriates were brought back to the country via Philippine Airlines flight PR 721 from London.

They are currently undergoing quarantine.

To date, a total of 185 Filipinos have been evacuated from Afghanistan after two more were evacuated from Kabul on Wednesday.

Only 24 more Filipinos remain in the foreign country including 16 who are requesting their company or the government for repatriation.

“The Department continues to work towards the immediate evacuation of the remaining Filipinos in Afghanistan,” the DFA said.

Alert Level 4, which requires mandatory repatriation, remained raised over Afghanistan after Taliban forces seized power in the country.

For emergencies, the DFA advised Filipinos to contact the Philippine Embassy in Islamabad, Pakistan through +923335244762 (WhatsApp or Viber) or isbpeatn@gmail.com as well as the official social media pages.—LDF, GMA News
