Philippine Embassy in US: COVID-19 positive case will not affect overseas voting

The Philippine Embassy in the United States has announced early Wednesday morning that a member of the Special Board of Election Inspectors (SBEI) tested positive for the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

The Embassy "strongly encourages" the accredited media, observers, and poll watchers who participated in the electoral proceedings on Monday, May 9, to monitor themselves for symptoms or get themselves tested.

Despite this development, the Embassy has assured the public that the overseas absentee voting (OAV) process was not affected and will proceed as scheduled. -- BAP, GMA News
