7-year-old Pinay named aircraft design competition regional winner

OTTAWA, Canada — A seven-year-old Filipina has been chosen as a regional winner in an international competition launched by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) on design of future aircraft, the Department of Foreign Affairs announced in a press statement.

Helene Margaret Bariso Elias was accompanied by her parents at the ceremony held in Montreal during the ICAO Innovation Fair on 22 September 2019 that was attended by ICAO Secretary General Fang Liu and ICAO Council President Olumiyiwa Benard Aliu.

Ambassador to Canada Petronila P. Garcia sent a letter in early September informing Elias about her achievement ahead of the public announcement made by ICAO.

Ambassador Garcia thanked Elias for making the Philippines proud of her accomplishment at such a young age. — BAP, GMA News
